The leadership of the Peace in Chronic Illness chat and blog are Christians; what we believe is below. You do not have to be a Christian or agree with this in order to chat with us, though we will not allow anyone to preach anything that contradicts this.
- There is one God who created us and is both loving and holy, and exists in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, which is the Trinity.
- The Bible (the Old and New Testaments) is God's word and teaches us about God, Jesus, ourselves, and our faith.
- Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and the Second Person of the Trinity. He was born of the Virgin Mary, truly God and truly man. He came to walk among us to teach us about God and to die for us and pay the price for our sins, so we can be reconciled to God. He rose again from the dead and ascended into heaven; He is our Lord and High Priest, and He will come again to take us home.
- The Holy Spirit is the Comforter Jesus promised He would send and the Third Person of the Trinity. He convicts us of sin and then regenerates and sanctifies us so we can become all God wants us to be.
- We were created in the image of God, but we sin and mar that image, and hurt each other. God could have kept us from sinning, but He gave us free will.
- Jesus' death on the cross is the only way we can be forgiven for our sins, saved, and reconciled to God.
- Those of us who have accepted the gift of salvation are reconciled to God so we can know Him now and so one day we will stand whole in every way before Him in heaven.
- The church is made up of all who have received the gift of salvation and are trusting in Jesus as Lord of their lives. We aren't intended to live as Christians alone but in fellowship with one another as well as with God.
- Jesus does heal today but not always. We pray and ask for help and for healing and we get to know Him better, but while He does answer and He is here for us, He does not often heal us here and now. One day, we will be healed in every way; meanwhile, He helps us thru these times and uses our illnesses and hurts to teach us to know Him better.
